We've been following this bug just about since it was first reported. We are still using 9.10 with a workaround to support our floppy drivers. We have cameras that were about $1k each when new, still in use, but use a floppy drive, so it's not cost effective for us to stop using floppy drives. Hence, we are still at 9.10.
It appears to us that probably Ubuntu has no intention to support floppy drives. If so, it seems to us this should be clearly stated by Ubuntu. Right now, many are in the dark on this thinking this will eventually be fixed. If we knew it was definitely not going to be fixed it would make it easier to plan for the future. In our opinion not fixing it because of a 1/2 days labor for a fix is not good, but it would be nice to have a solid direction from Ubuntu on this.
