Some observations. If I login using the desktop mouse both to select the user and to confirm the password X does not crash. But then using the Enter key for one of those actions immediatelly crashes X the first time and gdm is restarted now running on VT8 instead of VT7 where VT7 here unveils the tail of the bootup messages.
If I do use the mouse to login to avoid X to crash X will still crash the first time I try to confirm my password using the Enter key, e.g for Synaptic, causing gdm to be restarted on VT8 as well. I guess it (again) might have to do with upstart and its handling of VT- terminals, especially VT7. I have two more Maverick installations, one running on btrfs and another being UNE and those do not cause this problem. Might add that those two are clean installations using Maverick CDs while the one causing the crashes is an early upgrade from a clean Lucid LTS installation before Maverick CDs were available. -- On my first attempt to log in, GDM crashes and restarts. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626171 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
