I just uninstalled Paraview with synaptic, then I downloaded the general version for Linux of Paraview 3.8 directly from their site. Now it works almost fine (the last frame of the animation and the saved .avi animation became lost). But at least an animation is saved! Thus, this bug 484955 in Paraview is just for the Ubuntu version.
