I can confirm the report by chrysoberyl as it happens to me quite the same way.
Even updating the system via "apt-get upgrade" freezes the machine after a few MBytes of download - although no other application is running apart from the bare lucid with gnome and services. I could only install the latest updates (especially the approx. 120 MB of "new" kernel) by manually interrupting the wifi internet connection about every 30 MB and reconnecting - and hard-rebooting the machine a dozen of times :(... This is seriously odd, since my machine is quite far away from the router! I'm using wicd which always reports 100% signal strength, although it can't be more than about 30% (as is reported by Windows XP prof. x64, running on the same machine without any problems of that kind!!) -- Intersil ISL3886 causes lock ups in Ubuntu 10.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/557499 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
