Is there any progress on this bug for the 0.48 release? It has been reported several times in the last four years, confirmed and nominated. It is very user unfriendly (manually edit the size in the file) and differs from basically every other graphics or layout software that is out there (Adobe, Corel, Microsoft, Gimp, Scribus). Only in the tooltip the user can see that the font size in given in px instead of pt. Unfortunately this behavior is still in the latest Inkscape 0.48+devel r9712, so we can only hope that someone either offers the user a choice between px and pt or a similar change for the upcoming 0.48 release.
