Some more information on (perhaps) this same bug:

(I use a Dell Mini 10v Netbook running Lucid)

My internet access at home with my Dell and Lucid: FAST AND WITHOUT ANY
PROBLEMS

My friend's internet access with my Dell and Lucid: EXTREMLY SLOW, ABOUT 5-10 
KBPS
My friend's internet access with a PC and Lucid: EXTREMLY SLOW, ABOUT 5-10 KBPS
My friend's internet access with the same PC and Windows XP: FAST AND WITHOUT 
ANY PROBLEMS


So: 

Lucid + my dell netbook + my friend's internet access = EVIL

Lucid + my friend's pc + my friend's internet access = EVIL

WinXP + my friend's pc + my friend's internet access = GOOD

Lucid + my dell netbook + my own internet access = GOOD

So it seems this annoyance only occurs with certain routers (?)
Unfortunately I cannot tell you the name of the vendor / the model of the router

But maybe someone else with Lucid and internet speed problems can tell
what router he or she is using?

by googling this issue I found A LOT of lucid users complaining about
this bug. But none of the suggested fixes (disable ipv6, set different
nameserver) helped!
