Public bug reported: This has been a problem for me for a while now. I was hit by the earlier password length bug (on the server end the password is trimmed to some character limit, but Empathy wasn't respecting that). I moved to a shorter password, working around that issue. It was working for a while after that, but some time since then, Empathy stopped being able to log in to MSN. I don't get any error messages, just a permanent "Connecting" state. There do not seem to be any useful debug messages either. Starting Empathy, logging in, and then setting my status to Away (while MSN is still logging in) gives:
butterfly/presence-INFO: 19/08/10 11:24:57.789114: Setting Presence to 'NLN' butterfly/presence-INFO: 19/08/10 11:24:57.789311: Setting Personal message to '' butterfly/presence-INFO: 19/08/10 11:25:56.700783: Setting Presence to 'AWY' butterfly/presence-INFO: 19/08/10 11:25:56.701021: Setting Personal message to '' No other messages appear unless I change my status more. Judging by the debug log, the 23rd of July was the last time I was logged into MSN successfully via Empathy. If any updates were released around that time then they may be the culprit. Update: Apologies, despite several reboots (over the course of a month) having no effect, apparently manually killing telepathy-butterfly while logged in *did* have an effect. Consider this report to be irrelevant. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Description changed: - This has been a problem for me for a while now (assuming it is the same - issue).
