I forgot to comment on the nicfwupg.log in the attachment. That is a log from the HP firmware update software. I really suspect that this is a firmware bug common in most Broadcom products manufactured prior to a year ago. Although a firmware fix was released and repackaged by Broadcom the update software does not function (I suspect this is due to a TRUE bug in the existing tg3 module).
