The GUI is always something that needs to meet individual preferences. People work differently and for some functionality is more important, for others it is performance of cool style. The idea to have different platforms is not the worst IMHO because I don't think you can serve everybody's needs best with just having one. I have customers who start to distrust as soon as you are selling only one product for a particular need because they expect vendor sales talk instead of serious consulting.
