Before I add the patch, I wanted to advise that I can save in all the image formats, but not the hybrids PDF or DejaVu. I remember this exact problem with previous Alphas, notably Karmic.
I haven't found that it makes a difference if it's imported or scanned. It makes me wonder if it's a Xorg bug, as so many oddities can be traced back to it on Intel 9xx displays. Please let me know exactly how to apply patches, as i haven't yet acquired that skill.
