Adding "acpi=rsdt" in the kernel boot params also resolved this issue
for me. I went from having 15s battery wakeup times upon resume to
~120ms times. Additionally, querying battery information through /sys is
way faster (read: reasonably instantaneous).

blacklist approach for this issue. We already have a blacklist for the
(unrelated) ahci driver for a *ton* of hardware that misbehaves.

Maybe I'll write a patch to get the discussion going again, given that
the above bug is closed.
