I am having the exact same problem. My laptop resumes fine after the first suspend but does not have a display or backlight after the second suspend, I have to reboot and then the network is disabled and I enable it through NetworkManager.
I have attached output of dmesg after a reboot. Here is my basic info: Toshiba A305 with Intel GM965 graphics.
