As a workaround for web browsing you can use the chromium browser. The version chromium-browser 5.0.375.99~r51029-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 shipped with Ubuntu 10.04 does not show the bug! See the attached screenshot.
Rendering in the epiphany browser (uses webkit) however also displays the bug.
