I think I've accidentally purged the configuration of the config server. It can't update /var/lib/gdm/.ICEauthority because the folder and the file doesn't exist. I only have a .ICEauthority in my home folder.
Tried all the chowns and chmods suggested here and elsewhere but this appears to be a lack of configuration information problem. How do I go about reconfiguring the .ICEauthority or the configuration server on Lucid? -- There is a problem with the configuration server.
