Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Fresh install of ubuntu 10.04 bit with all updates Using Nvidia latest driver 256.35. Also happens with nvidia's 195.36, 190.53, 190.42, 185.18, and 180.60. Computer is working ok, I step away for a while, and when I come back, there is only a black screen. Computer is unresponsive to mouse and keyboard. However I can login remotely via ssh, using the command top, I can see that CPU usage of Xorg is 100%. The only way to get back control of the machine is to kill xorg. Screen saver is set to "Blank Screen" ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: xorg 1:7.5+5ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-23.37-generic 2.6.32.15+drm33.5 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-23-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Jul 8 06:03:30 2010 DkmsStatus: nvidia-current, 195.36.24, 2.6.32-23-generic, x86_64: installed InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100429) ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-23-generic root=UUID=db6c45eb-6cab-44ac-a028-8ba7abaea64e ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg dmi.bios.date: 07/15/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: Intel Corp. dmi.bios.version: DPP3510J.86A.0572.2009.0715.2346 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: DP35DP dmi.board.vendor: Intel Corporation dmi.board.version: AAD81073-205 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnIntelCorp.:bvrDPP3510J.86A.0572.2009.0715.2346:bd07/15/2009:svn:pn:pvr:rvnIntelCorporation:rnDP35DP:rvrAAD81073-205:cvn:ct3:cvr: system: distro: Ubuntu codename: lucid architecture: x86_64 kernel: 2.6.32-23-generic ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- xserver high cpu usage / frozen after being idle https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/603136 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
