I had the same problem, and tried with libgcal-0.9.4 and akonadi- googledata-1.1.0. Now syncing contacts works again!
I compiled it from the sources https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgcal/0.9.4-1 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/akonadi-googledata/1.1.0-1 in lucid, and it worked.
