FWIW: Running on an eeePC with Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix with Gwibber 2.30.0.01
I got the ADD button to show up as mentioned in the workaround on #30: Log into FB in Firefox, then go through the Authorization for FB and the ADD button appears (it didn't if I wasn't logged into FB in Firefox). The info pull from FB is still slow, but I was able to post a status update to FB.
