I did a clean installation of Lucid 10.04 a month or more ago. This installation had and has no problems connecting to Windows shares. I have not updated it.
I did another installation yesterday and patched it with all available updates. This installation cannot connect to Windows shares. The symptoms are identical those described above. It seems some updates have broken interoperability with Windows. A fix would be nice.
