I cannot reproduce the problem with a fresh install of lucid. The problem did occur with a system I upgraded from intrepid (I think it was intrepid) but does no longer occur with the fresh install. The hardware was unchanged except for the harddisk but I do not think that should matter. There have been various changes to the configuration files in /etc/ however.
