After a not so small number of crashes, I noticed that in most cases gnome-settings-daemon crashed when I tried to close an application which was residing in the notification area (a.k.a. tray or system tray). Once or twice it crashed even when I right-clicked on the application icon in the notification area, couple of times when the window of the app was restored after "minimizing to tray", and in most cases after I did right-click on the icon and then "quit". I also noted that crash occurred mostly when an application was residing in the notification area for some time (over half an hour). Today it crashed twice: once when I restored calibre ebook manager from the notification area and clicked inside the window, and the second time when I tried to close StarDict.
