Then you miss the point of my bug report. I understand that the  
repositories are not loaded by default, and that is fine.

The bug is that the first time you try to play an MP3, it reports that the  
codecs are not installed, and then *offers to install the missing codecs*.  
Which it then fails to do. Especially for beginners it is a nearly  
impossible task to discover why it failed, or how to fix it. I know  
someone who *stopped using Ubuntu* after trying a live CD, because he  
thought Ubuntu was unable to play MP3s.

If the system offers to install the codecs, it should do it, and not fail  
for apparently mysterious reasons.
