What looks like has happened is that your /etc/apt/sources.list has an error in it. Specifically, on line 54 of that file, the word "sudo" appears where it shouldn't. To remove that "sudo" from your /etc/apt/sources.list, first type "gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list" (without the quotation marks) into the terminal. Then scroll down to line 54, where the sudo is, and remove it. That line should like somewhat like this: deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid universe . Since this does not appear to be a bug report, we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs.
