This happens under additional circumstances. In my case, a wired connection, and after Suspend, but also with all (two) accounts IMAP and SSL. My variant steps to reproduce:
1. Run Thunderbird. 2. Verify that "Get Mail" works normally in Thunderbird. 3. Suspend the computer. 4. Awaken the computer. 5. Wait for network to re-establish itself. 6. Click "Get Mail" in Thunderbird. 7. UNEXPECTED dialog "Failed to connect to server xy" appears! 8. Click it away. 9. Clicking "Get Mail" again now just works fine. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release: 10.04 $ apt-cache policy thunderbird thunderbird: Installed: 3.0.4+nobinonly-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 3.0.4+nobinonly-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 3.0.4+nobinonly-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://mirrors.rit.edu/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Architecture: i686 -- First imap connection after a new established network connection fails with "Failed to connect to server" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/587512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
