I appreciate you all working on this...I brag about how stable Ubuntu is
all the time and it is annoying and time consuming to have this
Evolution bug continually rear it's head by either erasing a message I
am in the process of working on or nearly eliminating the message by
coming up with a "Restore" or "Discard" option.  I now continually copy
my work.  Thank you for taking this so seriously.  I wish I could be of
more help.

True words. I've been using Ubuntu since 6.06, and this is the most 
show-stopping bug I've run up against. Maybe I've been lucky, but this really 
seems like an embarrassing bug for a LTS release in 2010.
