The thing is... the default settings should be sane enough to not have to fiddle with update-alternatives at all. I agree that it is a bit of undiscoverable if one does not either by chance stumble upon it, but that is not a good reason for having it part of a default install. The default installation should come with general purpose applications that a large portion of the users will (want to) use. Since the default alternatives ought to be sane enough to not have users fiddle with them, there woud be no sufficient justification for KAlternatives being part of the default installation. In a way the sane-default-alternatives mantra and kalternatives are mutually exclusive :)
Thank you for the suggestion, but I will have to turn this one down. If you feel the need to, please raise a discussion about this on the kubuntu-devel mailing list, if consensus towards inclusion should be reached there, then so be it :) ** Changed in: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Won't Fix -- On Kubuntu, KAlternatives should be installed per default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/579202 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kubuntu-meta in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
