The problem still occurs on lucid. I noticed that in the steps to reproduce I omitted one step, i.e. copy to clipboard.
The correct sequence with updated CPU usages for lucid is: determine the baseline CPU usage by process Xorg (here, 5-7%) open a blank OpenOffice Calc spreadsheet select a cell and press CTRL+C to copy in the clipboard; the cell border becomes highlighted with a blinking dotted line the CPU usage by process Xorg increases to 13-15% selecting a group of cells (so that the blinking border perimeter is longer, see attached screenshot) can bring the Xorg CPU usage as high as 70% ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Confirmed -- selecting a cell causes high CPU usage by X Server Process (Xorg) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568892 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
