Hi Erick, I agree that this is an important problem to resolve, and am marking it as such. However, I don't think I'm in a position to work on this directly, Colin has a much better understanding of the grub2 packages than I do - so we're still dependent on his availability in order to resolve this.
Looking at the maintainer script and debconf template, there are two issues that I see: - AFAICS, the question is always asked at high priority on upgrade, regardless of whether a sensible answer has been successfully autoprobed (a missing 'break' statement?) - As pointed out here, the debconf question as worded doesn't make it very clear to novice users what precisely they should do if they're uncertain. Both of these seem like things we can and should fix for .1. ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Triaged ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => ubuntu-10.04.1 -- Ubuntu Lucid grub2 dist-upgrades result in confusion https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576724 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
