I have the same problem with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 32-bit, Nvidia latest proprietary driver with an Geforce 8500 GT graphic card.
Flash videos run all slow when fullscreened. I disabled compiz seemed to solve the issue, but of course lost all the eye candy effects.
