I'm having this same issue on a D945GCLF board. I just upgraded from
Karmic to Lucid and the system would have an intermittent boot issue
where it would just hang at boot with a black screen. I disabled the
boot splash and now it's just sitting here spitting out tons of these
spurious response message.

I am running Kubuntu

WTF? Why is Lucid such junk? While I doubt it's related to this issue my
Laptop is doing something very similar. Every once in a while X will
just refuse to start, it just hangs with a blank screen. Is the Gnome
version of Ubuntu this crappy or is it just Kubuntu? I have one system
left to upgrade to Lucid but now I'm not sure I'm willing to do it.
Ubuntu is nice because it's easy to install whatever I want but if it's
going to be this low quality I'm going to have to use something else.
