If my assumption of the freeze trigger is correct, it should be possible to provoke the problem even against fast NFS servers by setting the buffer size extremly low, i.e. to the minimum allowed by the NFS driver. I 'll try this out, but due to a business trip I won't happen before the end of the upcoming week.
