The contact edit fields in the Evolution UI don't seem to support the notion of preferred designations among field sets of the same type and I suspect that the underlying storage schema doesn't either. However this is no reason to mess up vcard imports with fields that have them. It should skip over them gracefully. At the moment it seems to be treating these as some kind of custom fields and naming them 'pref'.
