Than you JB for your assistance - this corrected an issue I have had for months!
Removing the ” and replacing with " in the following line in GRUB: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”quiet splash” has corrected the error. Prior to this I was unable to perform any updates without receiving the error: /etc/default/grub: 9: splash: not found User postinst hook script [/usr/sbin/update-grub] exited with value 127 This error limited my ability to update Ubuntu/Linux system to linux- image-2.6.32-22-generic -- users copy/pasting grub instructions from ubuntugeek blog for nvidia/fglrx fix end up with broken /etc/default/grub file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576296 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
