I appreciate the frustration you are experiencing. The Lucid  release
brought a record number of new users that severely degraded performance.
The U1 team is working hard to fix the slow system performance.

Please run "apport-collect 588889" (without the quotes) from a terminal
window. This will add some of the debugging info we require to help
debug this issue.
