Public bug reported: Binary package hint: indicator-applet
I clean installed Ubuntu Lucid on HP Compaq nx 6115. Only the home partition remained unformatted from an earlier Karmic install since it contains all my documents. I noticed after the installation that an attempt to restart or shutdown the system by using the indicator applet session button on the top right corner of the display did not restart or shutdown the machine. A message box appeared saying that the machine is going to shutdown but nothing happened. I tried the logout button but nothing happened. I had to shutdown by going to a terminal and doing sudo halt. Next day I tried the same button twice it worked. Machine shutdown and restarted as directed. After a few hours, the problem re-surfaced. No impact of pressing shutdown or restart button. Weird. I want to upgrade several other computers in my organizaton from karmic to lucid but don't want to create problems for users in the process.
