My friend also had faced the problem of stucking or freezing of keyboard and mouse after login as he did the upgrade to 10.04 from 9.10! But we found that that was 'cause of his devices such as mouse and keyboard wasn't added in the file /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/05-evdev.conf. For this we had added this devices manually and the problem resolved for us!
