Public bug reported:

Not sure what category this falls into..
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 lts
gnome 2.30.0

I am unable to save changes to my desktop

If I setup avant-window-navigator in the Startup Items, by the next boot
it won't be there. By It wont be there, I mean the entire entry that I
created will not be present.

If I open Gconf-editor and disable the drive icons on my desktop, upon next
boot the drive icons will be back,
and if I open gconf-editor the setting will be back to its default.

I have a friend having the same issue, Except his has to to with
enabling compiz-fusion Extra's. Every time he reboots it defaults back
to "none" and he has to change it back to "extra" only to have it
default back after he reboots..

Any Ideas?
