While I was typing this bug report two Update Manager dialogs popped up. I did nothing to summon them. One is a warning, "Not all updates can be installed", "run a partial upgrade to ...etc" The second is "Software updates are available for this computer", "New Ubuntu release '10.04 LTS' is available", with some "Other updates" listed beneath.
