I appreciate the frustration you are experiencing. The Lucid  release
brought a record number of new users that severely degraded performance.
The U1 team is working hard to fix the slow system performance.

>From looking through your attached logs, it appears that your client is
stuck in a "STANDOFF" state. The packages shipped with Karmic are rather
old now. I would suggest you upgrade to more recent packages using the
PPA. The instructions on how to do this are outlined at
