I can confirm this bug is still present.
Sony Vaio VPCF11C5E
Kernel Ubuntu 2.6.32-22-generic

xinput list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Logitech USB Receiver id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
(My Logitech mouse)
⎜ ↳ Logitech USB Receiver id=11 [slave pointer (2)]
(My Logitech mouse again)
⎜ ↳ PS/2 Mouse id=13 [slave pointer (2)]
[My touchpad, working as a mouse w "tap-to-click"]
⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint id=14 [slave pointer (2)]
[My touchpad, not configurable]
⎜ ↳ Macintosh mouse button emulation id=15 [slave pointer (2)]

I get the same results to xinput test as Gareth Halfacree at #84
I _wish_ I could disable tap-to-click!
