The fix proposed by silvan/jesus225 worked for me. I'm using the open drivers.
Like svaens, I'm wondering about the status of HAL - is it only running on my 
machine for legacy reasons? If Lucid is supposed to run without HAL, the fix 
isn't really a solution.
