Similar problem but different device. After clean install of 10.04, neither CD/DVD drive or usb drives would automount. Fixed USB's by adding UUID to fstab. Nothing in fstab for CDROM, but from what Ive read its not necessary. I will however add a line in fstab for it, until bug is resolved.
