I recently learned that upower is calling pm-powersave, *in addition* to acpi-support calling it. This would appear to explain the reappearance of the problem, after it was thought to be fixed in karmic before release. Could you try commenting out the 'pm-powersave' line in /etc/acpi/power.sh, and see if this fixes your suspend/resume problems?
