Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: git-core

Be ready to eventually use the reset button while replicating this bug !
1) I made the following commands:

git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git
git branch spellcheck
git checkout spellcheck
gitk

And when I run gitk, it begins loading rows, and the more I let it load
rows, the more it blocks the mouse, the desktop, etc. until it is
eventually killed automatically.

2) The same problem has been observed with another set of commands, done
a week or so apart:

git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-
next.git

...(one week or so has passed)...

cd linux-next
git pull

And it begins working, and having an ext2 file system it starts to say:

Too many files (created x deleted y), skipping inexact rename detection

for about four times, where x and y are numbers of hundreds or thousands,
and then just does nothing except using the hard disk continually and
blocking the desktop. This second set of commands requires a push of
the reset button, as it is not killed automatically.
