I think I'm seeing the same behavior, so let me try to fill in the details. I upgraded to Lucid last week and I have empathy v2.30.1-0ubuntu1 and indicator-me v0.2.6-0ubuntu1. My panel indicator area looks like the attached: the MeMenu has an icon indicating my availability on the right-hand side and Empathy has an icon with an identical appearance on the left-hand side. The icons behave differently when clicked (bringing up the MeMenu and activating the Empathy window, respectively), but as status indicators they are redundant.
By default, I would expect the Empathy icon to go away and for the functionality it exposes to be folded into the MeMenu somehow. I would also expect there to be a configuration option to turn off the Empathy notification icon (if I understand correctly, this is required by the status menu design guidelines: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CustomStatusMenuDesignGuidelines). ** Attachment added: "The panel indicator area, with redundant icons" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/49100551/Screenshot.png -- Remove notification icon redundancy in Ubuntu 10.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/578748 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
