This bug is not related the Gateway computer, it happens also with my
new Acer Aspire that has the same Core i5 430m with Intel Integrated
Graphics.

I am using vanilla Kubuntu 10.04. As Tony mentioned, the OSD appears and
the FN keys are working. But the screen brightness is not changed. I
also tried to set it directly as Tony did, writting to
/proc/acpi/video/GFX0/DD02/brightness. Doing this has no effect on the
screen brightness, all other /proc/acpi/video/GFX/DD0X folders have
brightness files indicating "<not supported>".

The FN keys do change this proc file that I mentioned before, but again,
nothing happens.

As Tony, I am a bit desperate to find a solution. I am willing to do
some testing, but I am out of resources with this.

I would appreciate some ideas.

Thanks
