Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-plugin-vlc
Certain scenarios in an IPTV middleware demo using mozilla-plugin-vlc 1.0.6 crashes Firefox. I suspect this affects anyone else trying similar things with mozilla-plugin-vlc. Scenarios: 1. Changing/zapping streams result in Firefox hanging and not accepting any user input. The demo is run in fullscreen and Firefox won't leave fullscreen with the F11 key when this occurs. killall firefox-bin must be issued. 2. When looking at programs in an electronic program guide a small window with the video output of the current TV stream is shown. If I navigate in the menu and click on another channel Firefox hangs like in scenario 1. I have confirmed that the problem was introduced in VLC somewhere between version 1.0.2 and 1.0.6 as 1.0.2 works without any issues. I had to manually download and install the VLC 1.0.2 DEB packages from Karmic (Ubuntu 9.10) to my Lucid install in order to solve the issues. 1.0.6 is shipped with Ubuntu Lucid. I have filed a bug report upstream to VLC for this issue as well: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/3649 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc 1.0.2-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl fglrx Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed May 19 13:03:13 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100429) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=nb_NO:nb:no_NO:no:nn_NO:nn:en LANG=nb_NO.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: vlc ** Affects: vlc Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- VLC plugin 1.0.6 crashes Firefox when changing streams https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582785 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
