Public bug reported: Hi *,
since my change to Lucid (fresh install) I have the problem that I sometimes get the following error message: Serious errors were found while checking the disk drive for /xxx with /xxx being one of four folders on another hard drive, i.e. the problem does not occur always with the same folder. The folder mentioned in the error message is not mounted. I can fix this in the root shell by calling mount /xxx but it is a bit annoying. I have a SSD in my PC with / and an additional HDD with /home, /tmp, /var /vms and swap. fsck does not report any problems. For completeness my /etc/fstab: # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> proc /proc proc nodev,noexec,nosuid 0 0 UUID=f6ac47a3-b3d5-40b8-a4d4-b0c0404c8a3b / ext4 noatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1 UUID=6e53c3b6-65fb-46fc-93d1-b047e3859e93 /home ext4 noatime 0 2 UUID=b3ad9611-6d28-4520-8cee-e59efcb71c81 /tmp ext4 noatime 0 2 UUID=6a3cad0c-9009-47f6-a0b6-cf504c8799d6 /var ext4 noatime 0 2 UUID=1e7d68fa-dc24-4644-9f59-498f068da39a /vms ext4 noatime 0 2 UUID=8a39b7d9-8243-47d3-8f7b-c2558fb8cc99 none swap sw 0 0 And the output of fdisk: $ sudo fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x0001764e Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 498 3998720 82 Linux swap / Solaris Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary. /dev/sda2 499 60802 484385793 5 Extended /dev/sda5 499 2490 15998976 83 Linux /dev/sda6 2490 4482 15998976 83 Linux /dev/sda7 4482 36353 255998976 83 Linux /dev/sda8 56818 60802 32000000 83 Linux Disk /dev/sdb: 40.0 GB, 40020664320 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 4865 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000065f4 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 1 4866 39080960 83 Linux The output of dmesg after a failed mount can be found under http://pastebin.com/SPNtCPFQ. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Partitions on second drive not mounted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582703 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
