i have the same problem , i had it when i upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04
beta , then after i did a clean install i had the same problem , if I
press the disable button not only the keyboard freeze , but most of
gnome also , like the keyboard respond only to "Ctrl + Alt + del" , i
cant do anything in the upper panel, the compiz does not work (Cube for
example) , only the shortcuts works and it keeps going like this until i
terminate the gnome-session from the processes in the system monitor,
after shutting it down and relogin I can disable it and reenable it
without any problem , untill i shutdown or restart my system the hall
thing comes back again .
