OK, this one will still "won't fix" it seems... So the only solution will be, as everyone concerned by this issue advice on the web, to go to openSuse...
I'll stick to 8.04 until july: If 10.04.1 include the patch, I'll upgrade... If not I migrate to openSuse 11.3 that'll be there at this time. That's quite funny, 3 years after Shuttleworth saying openSuse devs to go Ubuntu... to send 5 years users in the opposite direction! Indeed, this is just another expression of this fact: Ubuntu is loosing what made it's success, being user centric, which seems every version less true. Saying "this was removed due to the ability to seriously damage your machine with a custom DSDT" when it's exactly the opposite in my case (no GPU fan => It'll burn in half an hour of low usage!), allowing linux usage on the affected machine since Dapper... that's really worth reading this!!! -- Linux 2.6.26 not loading custom DSDT from initrd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246222 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
