Hello, I also have this weird bug in my Sony Vaio VGN-FJ1S with an Intel 915 VGA. Strangely this only started yesterday I guess (!)
Well more important: I found a workaround for this: "Add to Panel..." > "CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor" and then I set it to work at 1.33 GHz (the max. for me it's 1.73 GHz) and it's ok, no more screen dim/flickering ! Nevertheless I hope this will be fixed soon.
